save your voicemails!

The Voicemail Project is...If you're like us, you've probably got a few voicemails you've been saving on your phone for ages. It might be your mom singing happy birthday…or your friend talking in a funny accent…or just your drycleaners. Whatever the message, it can act as its own, full-length story—like a time capsule of earlier parts of your life. Now we're collecting those messages for this project we're calling the Voicemail Project, and we hope you'll share yours with us. Email us at voicemailproject@gmail.com and we'll show you how to get the messages off your phone!

My radio-making friend Laura is behind this really heartfelt project, and is even getting independent study credit for it at Northwestern! I've been saving my favorite messages for a while, and I really recommend doing the same. One of my messages from The Goatman is featured on the page right now. eh?

sipped not chugged

i just read a really engaging account of a an event i wish i could have attended. there's a new column on mcsweeneys written by someone who really enjoys sharing stories having to do with wine. i think everyone should give wine drinking a chance, and i think many people should give this column about wine drinking a chance. Stained Teeth is also accompanied by an audio component! it's a podcast produced while drinking wine about wine. i really don't think these people are alcoholics, they're just creative types who like wine. well, maybe they're alcoholics, i really don't know them.

i love you
