a buddha in a box?

benny came over last night bearing a red Buddha Machine. It's shaped like a pack of cigarettes, or an early version of the Ipod. It's made of plastic and requires two AA batteries. The text on the box is written in Chinese (mandarin?). The Buddha Machine has a built-in speaker. Benny switched on the gizmo, and out came drones. Electronically produced, sustained drones that immediately calmed my brain down. There are 9 drones embedded in the machine, all of which will loop until your heart's content. If you want, you can plug headphones in, or attach the lo-fi box to larger, more cumbersome speakers. Apparently, the creators of this ingenious device perform live with their beloved buddhas, without help from any other noise creating instrument or machine. I'm gonna buy one tomorrow.
